Bert Rowsell

Bert Rowsell, panel-beater extraordinaire, is hoping to beat every other team with the Buildlink Hookers. He manages to put more hours on the water than rest of the team put together. Small of stature, big of heart – Bert strikes fear into every carrot (gurnard) in the ocean.

Warren Hay

Warren was born and bred in Whangarei and grew up in a family fishing environment. He’sa keen fisherman who loves the outdoors. He’s worked in the industry for the last 25 years with the last 10 years owning his own fishing and boat shop Warren Hay Marine.

He’s caught everything from sprats to marlin and now enjoys teaching his son the love he has of fishing. For 2011 he plans to travel overseas and do some fishing in Thailand chasing sailfish.

Lee Tuhiwai

Based in Auckland for most his life, he started like most Kiwi kids fishing off local wharfs with handlines.
He then rock hopped his way around the Coromandel Peninsula and the North Eastern coastline, until he could afford his own waka.

Now residing in Ruakaka for the last 3 years, he mainly fishes Bream Bay, Hen and Chicks through to Bay of Islands.
He also takes a yearly pilgrimage to the far North, Spirits Bay/Cape Maria Van Diemen, to chase snapper, kingfish and trevally.

He is very passionate about conserving all fish stocks (catch and release), especially when it comes to bigger fish.

He has also fished Vanuatu, Fiji and Tonga chasing GTs, dogtooth, yellowfin and other toothy critters.

Roger Cotes

Roger runs his own local fishing tournament which is held every Queens Birthday Week-end and is patronized by over 300 people.

He works for engineering company, South Pacific Industrial, of Ruakaka, Northland and he is on the committee of the Marsden Cove Fishing Club.
