As team captain and owner of marine-deals.co.nz if Antonio’s not checking out the latest fishing technology he’s usually either chasing his favourites – Hapuka and Blue Nose in the far north, or just out getting a bin full of snapper out in the Rangi channel.
Antonio is the son of legendary Auckland fisho Frank Guzzo and his earliest memories are of surf casting on Piha Beach at the tender age of 4. He’s known by his mates as “The Italian Mountain Cat” (a stealth like predator from the rolling hills of Tuscany with a 95% success rate when hunting) due to his supernatural fishing ability. Antonio’s career highlights includes winning the 2006 Whangaroa One Base Marlin tournament. |
Derek the Chef
Derek the Chef, well know as the Chef on Carters Gone Fishin and for his prowess with the knife and BBQ.
Lets see just what he can do with a rod instead and catch what he loves to cook.
Having fished with some of the best along side the best some of this knowledge must surely have rubbed off on him. Probably the outsider in the team but never having been known to give up is certainly the one to watch. Bon Appetite. |
Alistair Arkell
Alistair Arkell is especially passionate about game fishing, fishing big baits for snapper, soft baiting and jigging for kings and is a member of the Clevedon Gamefishing Club and the Big Fish Club.
He’s fished most areas between Great Barrier and the Three kings with four expeditions to different pacific Islands.

 Andy Dresser
Andy got into the industry by being his local fishing shop’s best customer. He went on to manage several tackle shops till 5 years ago he started Silverdale Bait and Tackle which continues to grow through Andy’s enthusiasm.
He also owns and runs Tagit Serious Fishing Gear, which manufactures an NZ-made range of fishing accessories. |
 Giovanna Guzzo
Do not under estimate this top fishing chick. Giovanna is 21 years old with 21 years fishing experience alongside some of NZ’s top fisherman. And she runs her own promo girls company so she’s not just out there fishing for talent! |
 Mike Wilson
Mike is a regular on the Hauraki Gulf, hitting the Channels in the summer months, and flicking plastics around structure in the winter.
Predominantly fishing soft baits and other artificial lures he’s a keen fisho and looking forward to some interesting challenges |
