Mike Rendle (Captain)

As editor and co-owner of NZ Fishing Coast to Coast magazine, fishing is Michael’s life, and his passion.
While he would still fish 24/7 the fact is that the magazine, and guiding new fishing writers, is the major motivating force now. Which probably explains why FC2C is something of a phenomenon – having grown every one of its nine years in existence!

Marlin are Michael’s real love. He has had the opportunity to work professionally in Cairns and tag granders but gets more of a thrill from seeing someone catch their first from his own boat.

Softbaits have also transformed his fishing, he was there at the start, and has even co-written a hugely successful book on the subject. Expect a few of the challenges to include this style of fishing!
PB’s – snapper 32lbs, marlin 500+ lbs (and all three species), kingfish approx 65lbs, shark 450+lbs, tuna approx 90lbs (must do better…)

Rob Fort

Rob is well-known throughout NZ for his exploits in kayak fishing. He has a Coromandel-based guiding business teaching people how to specifically softbait fish.

He is a writer for NZ Fishing Coast to Coast covering the kayak, softbait and spearfishing fields. Rob is an accomplished photographer and particularly enjoys underwater photography.

Amongst his roles is that of product developer for various NZ tackle wholesalers. He has also run courses on both kayak and softbait fishing.

His personal bests include a kingfish of 25kg as well as snapper of 23.5lbs.

Chad Prentice

Chad Prentice grew up on the East Coast where fishing is a lifestyle. He’s managed to bag Snapper to 14.4kg and kingfish to 28kg. He holds many New Zealand and NZACA light tackle records in both fresh and salt water and spends the vast majority of his time all over the North Island shores fishing remote areas and hard-to-get to places.

He took out the NZACA New Zealand land-based champs in 2008 and is still currently ranked from the NZACA as #1. He writes for Coast to Coast.

Jason Harris

Born in Auckland, Jason moved to Tairua in 2008.

He has fished in the Coromandel area for 30 years, as well as much time in the South Pacific Islands.
