The 2012 season of Export Gold Match Fishing League is going to be the biggest and best yet!
For the first time, coverage of all twenty matches will be broadcast on Sky Sport and free-to-air on Prime.
Xnet are well prepared to defend their title but the other teams are more determined than ever to make a mark.
Many of the great anglers who have competed in our first two seasons are returning but there are some new faces, too, including the first team to go through a qualification process. The Mitre 10 Trade fishing team, representing Southern Hauraki/Firth of Thames, will fish all their home matches out of the excellent Kawakawa Bay Boating Club. Led by Dwayne Stewart – the team came together as the winners of a match fishing shootout at this year’s Century Batteries Beach and Boat competition.
We’ve made some changes to the way the matches are structured:
This year there are four basic types of match (see match formats here) and every team will fish each type of match home and away.
Each team is able to add a moment of truth to the match format in each of their home matches.
With the experience of two seasons under their belts – the teams are coming out with some mind-bendingly cunning Moments of Truth which really test the tactical and strategic skills of their opposition.
We’ve standardised the scoring to make it easier for the viewers to follow while giving the right balance to the tactical value of targeting different species.
All-in-all we’ve refined the package to make it more fun for the viewers and competitors. Watch this space for some big announcements of developments in the Match Fishing League concept.
